Camotes Island Itinerary

Camotes Island is an island in Cebu, which also has its own group of islands to share and plenty of activities worth experiencing, but here, I am going to tackle some of the best things I did being there while the borders are still open to receive guests.

Day 1

Danao Port
Start the day early and go for the 5:30 a.m. departure time in Danao-Camotes Ferry Terminal, Danao City. Since the travel time from Danao to Consuelo would take two hours, that way you would be there around 8:00 a.m. and still have time to maximize the day.
Passenger's Ticket Fee is ₱220 or $4.53
Terminal Fee is   ₱5 or $0.10
Environmental Fee is  ₱5 or $0.10

Consuelo Port
Local transportation such as single-rider motorbike, tricycles, jeepneys is at the ready in the port. There will be plenty of public utility vehicle drivers offering transportation. Always ask how much it costs. Usually, there is a board listing all transportation prices around the vicinity.
From Consuelo to Santiago in a tricycle for three persons is ₱150 or $3.09

Aizawa Beach Resort in Santiago, San Francisco, Camotes
A beachfront and Japanese-owned resort, Aisawa is our choice of stay simply because it already has friendly reviews from other people who have gone there, and they were not wrong. The beachfront view, the stretch of sand, and the sunrise view are some of what I love about this place. Small and intimate. We booked three rooms, two family-sized rooms and an electric-fanned room. All rooms have their own comfort rooms and beds. With a free breakfast for each person, you can worry less about meals.
Family size room per night is ₱1,800 or $37.04
Electric-fanned room per night is ₱900 or $18.54

Top 5 Things to Do in Camotes Island

1. Lunch by the Santiago White Beach
After we got dressed in our beach-appropriate attire, we walked along the shore to find restaurants for our breakfast, and there were some good choices that were just by the beach. We had eggs, rice, tocinos, and iced coffees, which is approximately ₱50-150 or $1-3.

2. Literally Chilling and Swimming in Santiago White Beach
After lunch, we went to our resort and spent time by the beach. Literally just relaxing and listening to nature, the birds singing, the sound of the waves, and the smell of the ocean breeze. After the total lockdown and the whole coronavirus pandemic, I absolutely missed this going out, spending time with friends, and enjoying nature. It was what I needed, and I know we all deserve to spend some time outside since we have been isolated so much, too much already, it's not healthy anymore. So I was thankful for this trip thought short. It's a public beach, so you don't have to worry financially. Go have fun! By then, we went swimming all afternoon till we were sunkissed and satisfied.

Day 2

3. Island Hopping in Tulang Diot Island
After a hearty breakfast at the resort, we went island hopping to Tulang Diot Island. The turquoise seawater here will make you jealous. You will wish the ocean in your town has this kind of beauty. Better bring your personal snorkeling gear so you could snorkel in the water as sea those fish.
Terminal fee is ₱10 or $0.21
Boat transportation fee back and forth from the main island is ₱40 or $0.82
or the Island hopping tour package is ₱1,500 or $30.86
Cottages are for ₱500-600 or $10.29-12.35
Island lunch meal combos (like rice, sisig, and iced tea, which I got) ₱75-120 or $1.54-2.47

4. Cave Exploration in Timubo Cave
I have not been in a cave for a long time, so this was something I was very willing to do. Sometimes I forget that caves are underground the earth, that you have to climb down a path, and does not have some fancy door to greet. When I saw the entrance, it was pretty small, but at least the people there made a proper stairway and railings for tourists to hold on to. By the time I got in, it was too dark I had to turn on my mobile flashlight. It was eerie, cold, and wet like the cave was sweating or something, and it smells like old earth and land and something else I can't describe, but it does not smell bad. Then, it was seventy-five meters down, so I had more hiking to do. You go through small ways, walk through puddles, and imagine odd things that take shape in the rock formation. At the end of the exploration, you will find the cold refreshing spring of the cave. The locals even placed a grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. The water is not too deep, five feet max.
Entrance fee is ₱50 or $1.03

5. Kayaking, Water Biking, Ziplining, Horse Riding in Lake Danao
Lake Danao, also known as the Lover's Lake, maybe because most of their water activities take two people to enjoy the fun, like water biking, kayaking... It's very spacious here, with lots of areas to do picnics, hiking around the lake, ziplining, and there's also a swimming pool to cool down from the hot summer sun since it was not allowed to swim on the lake.
Entrance fee is ₱10 or $0.21

I have always wanted to travel, but I believe I don't have to spend too much to do that since nature is supposed to be free, but I understand that people need to earn to make a living and buy food and utilities, and with that, I support our local businesses on each island I visit. This is on-the-budget travel that hopefully would inspire you to do it, although I have to give you friendly reminders to always wear your masks, sanitize your hands often, and keep social distancing.
